The Obverse design: Depicts the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Queen Elizabeth II (created in 2016) with its latin inscription and also includes the year in which the coin is struck.
The Reverse design: The design depicts the iconic image of Santa Claus. The design also features Santa's sleigh filled with magic and presents, and also three of his reindeer guiding him through the sky, the design will be issued as a struck coin, as well as a selectively printed colour version.

The hugely popular Christmas Commemorative coin collection which many Gibraltarians have collected since the first coin sample was struck at the Mint by The Hon Minister Sir Joe Bossano in 1988 and sold complete with a Christmas card has proved a huge success. This yearly collection of 2020 will have varying designs featured on the coin reverse, each focusing on the festive period and traditions of Christmas. The Gibraltar National Mint will for the first time ever produce a Christmas edition £2 coin which will also be sold complete with a Christmas card.
